Mr Leo Athanasatos

Leo Athanasatos is a Neuro-Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist with a vast range of experience working in the NHS, private practice, and sport. Leo graduated in physiotherapy from the University of Sydney Australia in 1994 and three years later was made Clinical Education Lead at the North Middlesex Hospital. Life took a change of direction in 2001 moving into the fast lane of Formula 1 motor racing. Over a six year period Leo worked with a number of teams and racing drivers including: Brackley based BAR Honda (British American Racing) home to 1997 World Champion Jacques Villeneuve; Cologne based Toyota Panasonic Racing which has included drivers such as Ralf Schumacher and Olivier Panis and BMW Sauber Racing, reuniting with Jacques Villeneuve. Currently Leo is the Medical Director for Panis-Barthez Competition in the European Le Mans (ELMs) series which includes the famous 24hr Le Mans race. Leo has extensive teaching experience both in the UK and Europe and has a special interest in spinal, knee, shoulder and sports injuries. He is a member of the BASEM Executive Committee.
